Believe it or not, the holiday season and end of the year 2019 is rapidly approaching! As this exciting and busy time of year draws near, there are a few reminders and answers to frequently asked questions regarding holidays and PTO we would like to share with you.
CleanSlate is closed during the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Below are some specific explanations of the holiday policy, which can be found in the Employee Handbook located in UltiPro:
- You will receive holiday pay for the regular number of hours you were scheduled to work that day. For example, if a holiday falls on a Monday, and you are normally scheduled to work 8 hours on that day, you will receive 8 hours of holiday pay. If you are scheduled to work 5 hours that day, you will receive 5 hours holiday pay.
- If a holiday falls on a day you are not normally scheduled to work, you will not receive holiday pay for that day. For example, if a holiday falls on a Monday, and you were not scheduled to work that Monday, you will not receive holiday pay for this day.
- To be eligible for holiday pay, you must have worked both your last scheduled workday before the holiday and your first scheduled workday after the holiday. If you have pre-planned, approved time off the day before or after a holiday, the holiday time will still be paid for that holiday. If you call out the day before or after a holiday, and you have a doctor’s note for the absence, holiday time may be paid at the management’s discretion. If you call out the day before or after a holiday without a doctor’s note, holiday time will not be paid for that holiday.
Another hot topic this time of year is Paid Time Off (PTO). Per our policy, 80 hours of PTO may be carried over into 2020. This means that any amount of PTO in your bank that exceeds 80 hours will be forfeit. For example, if you have 96 hours in your bank on December 31, 2019, 16 hours will be forfeit when the next payroll runs. There will be no exceptions to the rollover policy. Please make every effort to take your time off; we know you work hard day-in and day-out, and it is important to take care of yourselves in order for you to provide the best possible care of our patients.
Please also be mindful to schedule your PTO time during the holidays with as much advance notice as possible to alleviate the burden to other team members and allow for appropriate staffing and scheduling at the centers.
We encourage you to some time to read through these policies in greater detail in the Employee Handbook, and refer any questions you may have to your managers.
As always, thank you for the amazing work you each and every day for our patients. Together we succeed!
